Initial Ideas for My Shot List

Here are my initial ideas and shot list for my opening scene.

SCENE 1:

Man loads a big black bag into the back of his fancy car. We can see he is well dressed, in expensive clothes. He drives quickly down the street. He is clearly in a hurry. We see lots of shots of inside the car. He is nervous about being followed. We hear/see the police behind him and him panicking. Fade to black – we hear the louder sounds of the sirens and the amplified sounds of screeching tyres and a crash.

Fade in from black. Title: One Year Earlier.

SCENE 2:

We see the same man, scruffily dressed this time, getting into a car (different from the first one, much more basic/rundown). The location is a rundown estate. His body language suggests that he is upset/broken. He throws a couple of plastic supermarket bags of clothes into the boot. He bangs his fists against the roof of the car, it is clear he has been crying. Shots from inside the car show an empty baby seat, which he looks at, making him even more upset. We see an eviction notice on the passenger seat. He makes a phone call to a friend. He says ‘She’s kicked me out. Can I crash at yours?’ Fade to black as the car drives off.

SCENE 1 – SHOT LIST

1.       ECU of hand opening boot (black leather gloves)

2.       Trunk shot – low angle of protagonist as boot opens

3.       Close up of bag being put in the car

4.       Medium shot of man closing boot

5.       Camera tracks the man (medium long shot/medium shot) as he moves around the outside of the car – arc shot, camera moving in the different direction

6.       Close up of him opening the driver’s door

7.       Medium shot of him sitting in the car (from the passenger seat)

8.       Close up of key in ignition

9.       Shot of the front of the car, lights coming on

10.   Close up of foot on accelerator

11.   Close up of exhaust

12.   Over the shoulder (from the back seat) – medium shot of man driving

13.   Close up on hand on gear stick

14.   Medium close up of man’s face in rear view mirror

15.   SERIES OF SHOTS of the car driving from outside

16.   Close up of eyes in rear view mirror

17.   Shots of the tyres/alloys

18.   Extreme close up of eyes in rear view mirror

19.   Extreme close of changing gear

SCENE 2 – SHOT LIST
