Titles in Crime Films

I am going to include titles during my opening scene, so I am going to look at how titles appear in opening scenes from crime films, thinking about how they appear but also the order of the titles.

'Taxi Driver'

The film starts off with the production company title and then the main actor's name, Robert De Niro, in bold red writing over a plain black screen. Then the first shot of the actual film displays the film title, before credits for the director first, then the other actors, then the crew and producers.

'Casino'

The film begins with the production company titles and then the producer credit (and also a title card featuring the year the film was set in). Next is the name of the director, then the main actor in bold white writing over a clear black screen. This is followed by two more names of lead actors, and then the movie title 'Casino'. This is followed by the names of the smaller actors and members of the crew, before we see the title of the director again.

'Goodfellas'

The film starts with the production company title and then the producer's name, followed by the main actors' names in bold white font over a plain back screen. This is followed by a title card indicating the location and era, 'New York 1970'. After this is the film title over the plain screen, but in a bold red colour. This is followed by credits to the other crew involved with the production of the film and the last title to appear is the director's name.
