The next crime opening scene I am analysing is from 'The Godfather'.

The opening scene of 'The Godfather' contains the following crime genre conventions:

• typical costumes - smart, black suits (at a wedding)
• slow, suspenseful editing
• references to violence in the monologue
• typical character types - the powerful mob boss (almost silent, shows power through gestures), henchmen
• typical props - cigarettes, alcohol
• setting showing off boss's power and wealth
