Analysing Crime Film Opening Sequences - 'Heat'

The next crime opening scene I am analysing is from 'Heat'.

The opening scene of 'Heat' contains the following conventions of the crime genre: 

• typical setting - urban
• low key lighting
• names actors in the titles commonly associated with the genre
• bold, sans serif font
• characters are disguised, as they steal an ambulance for a robbery
• mysterious non-diegetic music
• introduces different characters in the 'crew'
• typical props - fake ID cards, weapons
• typical costumes - masks, police uniforms
